Community Guidelines

The West Coast Eagles has been actively supporting the Western Australian community since the club formed in 1986. Over time, the club has consistently increased its support of the WA community, providing assistance to many charitable groups and strengthening their involvement in many worthwhile community activities, with a particular focus on football development.

Unfortunately, we are unable to assist every worthy cause that requests and needs support and have adopted the following principles as a guide to the selection criteria.
Areas of support

The programs and areas through which we direct our support are those that relate to one or more of the following categories of community endeavour:

* Junior / community football development – support of the game at the grassroots level.
* Youth and education – to help provide a pathway for young people to build purposeful lives as members of the wider community.
* Health and wellbeing – in an effort to improve the health and wellbeing of the community, with a particular focus on illnesses that have an association with the club, its employees, members and supporters.

Please note that although your organisation may fall within the categories and guidelines outlined, we may not be able to support your request due to the overwhelming number of applications we receive each season.

Eagles in the Community

The West Coast Eagles currently has three major beneficiaries in the The Cancer Council WA, Telethon and the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation. As long-term partners, the club has made a strong commitment to support these organisations through a heavy involvement in activities, events and promotions.

In addition to supporting our two major charity partners, we also support a number of other charities, community groups and programs, bringing the number of programs supported to over 20 in 2008. Charitable partners and community programs include:

* The Cancer Council WA
* Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation
* Telethon
* Athletics WA
* WAOC
* The Wirrpanda Foundation
* Eagles Cup
* Eagles Faction Footy
* Access All Areas
* Football Development Trust
* West Coast Eagles Charity Home
* AFL Community Camp
* AFL Ambassadors
* West Australian Amateur Football League
* East Coast Eagles
* Eagles Rock My School (metro & regional)
* High school program (metro & regional)
* SGIO Youth Grants Program
*Kicking Goals (regional)
* United Way WA (merchandise giving program)
* The Oliver Foundation (merchandise giving program)

An important part of Eagles in the Community is our Merchandise Giving Program through which we support a number of charities and fulfil donation requests from the general community.

More information about donations

Please ensure you have read the donations guidelines and filled in the request form. Donations will only be considered if submitted on the appropriate form. For more information, please email donations@westcoasteagles.com.au.

The West Coast Eagles receives numerous requests for signed merchandise and promotional material. Each year an allocated number of items will be signed by the player group and will be available for organisations that fit into one or more of the categories of community endeavour. Other promotional items (unsigned) including posters, stickers, tattoos and player cards will also be made available upon request but are subject to availability.

Policy for applicants – Merchandise Giving Program

* The charity, event, school or community group must address at least one of the categories of community support, being junior football development, youth and education or health and wellbeing, to be eligible to receive merchandise from the club.
* All applications for merchandise and promotional items, signed and unsigned, must be made in writing at least three weeks prior to the event or activity. All requests are to be made out to the Strategic Relationship Marketing Officer.
* The quantity of merchandise/promotional items provided may be limited in order to satisfy as many requests as possible. As you can appreciate, the club receives an overwhelming number of requests each season.
* The community activity must support the West Coast Eagles brand, and in particular the brand attributes of passion, professionalism and leadership.
* The community activity to be supported must not be associated with any conflicting sponsors of the West Coast Eagles.

Please note: Because of the huge number of requests for player autographs, the club is unable to assist with signing items and enforces a strict policy in this regard. Members and supporters are encouraged to attend open training sessions (details are posted on the club website at westcoasteagles.com.au or can be obtained by contacting reception on 08 9381 1111) where the players are sometimes able to sign items for supporters. Under no circumstances can merchandise be sent or left at the club for signing.
