The Australian Football League launched 2007 Heritage Round this week which will pay tribute to the 1970s.
The West Coast Eagles will honour WA football’s rich history when it wears the Western Australian gold and black guernsey as part of the upcoming Heritage Round in the clash against Brisbane on Saturday, July 7.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the first State of Origin match, played between Western Australia and Victoria on October 8, 1977 at Subiaco Oval, with WA winning 23.13 (151) to 8.9 (57).
West Coast supporters will have the chance to bid for their own piece of history, with the guernseys worn by the players in this round 14 match being put up for auction immediately following the completion of the game.
Each “dirty” guernsey will be personally signed by the player and comes loose with an authenticity certificate. A guernsey signed by senior coach John Worsfold will also be available.
Fans simply need to visit the West Coast Eagles Online Auction site and register to bid for the guernseys before the auction goes live this Saturday night. Final bids will be taken on Friday, July 20 at 5pm.
A limited number of replica heritage guernseys are also available from the West Coast Eagles Team Store for $109.95. Visit the Team Store at Gate 12, Subiaco Oval or call 9388 4555 to get yours today.
