The West Coast Eagles are delighted to be supporting ‘Have a Go Day, a LiveLighter Event’ on Wednesday, November 12 at Burswood Park from 8.30am to 3pm. This free event is presented by our partners at the Seniors Recreation Council of WA, and is your chance to try out some new activities.

West Coast will be there all day to encourage supporters to have a go at kicking and hand-balling skills and win great prizes. We will have a few special guest appearances during the day including Rick the Rock coming down to draw the lucky prize winners:

10am – Ross Glendinning
11am – Phil Narkle
12pm – Dean Cox
3pm – celebrity surprise guest for the major prize draw

This hugely popular event welcomes anyone over-45 to try a range of sporting and recreation activities to encourage them to join a sport or recreation club. The event also features a large range of displays offering information on a wide range of topics and interests.

Last year more than 14,000 people attended the event and this year there will be more than 200 different sites to explore.

Dawn Yates from the Seniors Recreation Council of WA says the day’s theme of Seniors in Sport & Recreation is a perfect way to remind people of the value of sport and recreation in their lives.

“We all know that keeping active into your senior years is important for your mental, physical and emotional wellbeing,” said Dawn.

“Have a Go Day is a chance to try so many different kinds of activities and we encourage everyone to try something they have never done before.

"Who knows – you might find a new passion!”

At Have a Go Day you’ll see a mobile bell tower, a football kicking competition with the West Coast Eagles Football Club, cooking demonstrations by Crown Perth, My Kitchen Rules past competitors and Bethanie Bake Off, virtual gliding, gaming consoles activities and a wide variety of technology activities. SES will also have a large display of equipment and personnel.

Other activities around the grounds include archery, croquet, petanque, canoeing, rock climbing, brain training, various forms of dancing, exercise to music and a wide variety of entertainment. Free refreshments are available.

Channel 7 personalities will be attending the event and there will also be a chance to get plenty of information from clubs and groups, lifestyle villages, travel, caravanning, seniors’ card, health, medical checks and government agencies.

The Hon. Tony Simpson MLA, will officially welcome participants at 10.30am and 6PR’s Steve Mills will be MC.
