Star Eagle Daniel Kerr has had knee surgery

WEST Coast midfielder Daniel Kerr will be sidelined from pre-season training for at least a month after having knee surgery on Monday.

Kerr had an arthroscopy on his right knee to remove a small bone fragment and will spend the next two to three weeks recuperating before returning to training in mid to late January.

The 29-year-old started pre-season training two weeks ago but was absent from last Friday's session at McGillivray Oval.

Injury-plagued in recent seasons, Kerr shook off his groin and hamstring troubles to play every game in 2012.

He highlighted his importance to the Eagles midfield with 36 disposals and 12 clearances against Collingwood in round 22.

The Eagles are also managing All Australian ruckman Nic Naitanui's return to training. The young star will be sidelined for at least the next four weeks following groin surgery.

In better news for the club, returning forwards Mark LeCras and Mark Nicoski have made bright starts to the pre-season after injury ruined their 2012 campaigns.
