AFL 2012 Media - West Coast Team Photo Day

Will Schofield strokes his beard of wisdom as he ponders who is looking the goods on team photo day.

Jacob Brennan. He’s cut his own hair, and he’s got a bit of make-up on his face actually.
Before taking a few well-deserved days off for Christmas, the West Coast Eagles yesterday gathered to take their team photo for season 2013.

Now that the club’s list for 2013 is complete, with new recruits Sharrod Wellingham, Jamie Cripps and Cale Morton, draftees Adam Carter, Brant Colledge and Mark Hutchings, and rookies Jamie Bennell and Callum Sinclair, the team came together to take the photo that will plastered all over the walls of West Coast fans next year.

On a day where speculation is rife amongst the squad over who has put the most effort in to their appearance for the all-important photo, midfielder Chris Masten took it upon himself to conduct a quick poll with the playing group in between snaps.

Defender Will Schofield, still sporting his signature beard which is looking more and more god-like every day, was quick to name Jacob Brennan as one the more superficial players of the day.

“He’s cut his own hair, and he’s got a bit of make-up on his face actually. We should zoom up close on Jacob Brennan,” Schofield said.

“Andrew Gaff also had an $80 haircut. And Sharrod Wellingham as well, just take a look at him.”

Masten was in agreeance that Wellingham did look the goods for team photo day, describing the former Magpie as “just a beautiful specimen”.

Pat McGinnity pointed the finger at youngsters Brad Sheppard and Ash Smith.

“Ash Smith has put a lot of effort in today. And Brad Sheppard, he was in the mirror for about an hour before we came in today.

“I haven’t done a whole lot today, just the hair, the tan, that’s about it. I haven’t actually done a few extras in the gym, this is just how I look normally,” McGinnity added, in case there are any fans out there who will be astounded by his impressive physique when they see the team poster next year.

And midfielder Luke Shuey felt new draftee Mark Hutchings was worth a mention.

“Hutchy works hard on the track, and I reckon he works even harder on the appearance. But you can tell who puts in the effort, Brad Sheppard, Pat McGinnity. Ash Smith as well, I saw him coming in to the salon as I was coming out.”
