The West Coast Eagles have established a wonderful partnership with Cancer Council WA over the past nine years, and this year we’re taking things to a new level.

Funded by campaign partner Caltex, the team will run out on Saturday in an official commemorative Dig Deep guernsey in recognition of the club’s official Dig Deep for Cancer Council WA match day.

The guernseys, which feature Cancer Council WA’s logo, as well as the iconic ‘Dig Deep’ slogan, will be signed by the individual player and auctioned off on the official West Coast Eagles online auction.

Not only do we have the dirty guernseys straight off the players' backs, but if your favourite player isn’t playing this weekend, you can still bid on his signed guernsey as we are auctioning off the full set.

With all money raised from the sale of the guernseys going to Cancer Council WA, this is your chance to own a unique piece of West Coast Eagles memorabilia and support a worthy cause.

The Dig Deep Day coin toss auction wrapped up on Friday, with the honours going to Sue Rutherford of Wembley, who bid an astonishing $1,900 for the official duties.

Rutherford, who will hand the duties over to her lucky partner, Bill Gray, says she’s proud to play a small part in Dig Deep Day.

“It’s a terrific cause," she said. "Bill's really looking forward to meeting the captains and tossing the coin, we’re so happy to be a part of it.

“Everyone who can should contribute to the Dig Deep cause.

“Everyone will be affected by cancer at some point in their lives, either themselves or someone they know and love.

“Any donations will hopefully help find a cure and provide support to people who are fighting this illness every day."

Now in its ninth year, the West Coast Eagles’ Dig Deep Day has continued to be a great success, with the 2012 campaign raising a massive $119,000 for cancer research.

West Coast members and fans are again encouraged to get behind the cause to help raise much needed funds to aid the fight against cancer.

The aim of this year’s Dig Deep campaign is to raise a further $100,000 for Cancer Council WA.

The club’s Cancer Council Western Australia ambassador, vice-captain Beau Waters, is encouraging Eagles supporters and footy fans to buy a special five dollar Dig Deep lapel pin to wear at Saturday's match.

The Dig Deep pins are on sale now at Caltex service stations, the West Coast Eagles Team Store and the Cancer Council WA shop in Subiaco. They will also be available at the ground before and after the round 19 game.

All the money raised from the Dig Deep campaign helps provide support for Western Australian cancer patients, including the Cancer Council’s Crawford and Milroy Lodges, which provide accommodation for country cancer patients who need to stay in Perth during their treatment.

Since it’s inception in 2005, the annual Dig Deep Day campaign has been an amazing success, with over $800,000 going to those in need.

This is the fifth year Caltex has come on board to support the Dig Deep campaign, providing their stores at locations for fans to purchase Dig Deep fundraising items. The West Coast Eagles Football Club would like to thank Caltex, its staff and its franchisees for supporting the Dig Deep campaign again for 2013.
