The benefits of the East Perth alignment appear to be shining through with three players in action for the Royals at the weekend, being among the standout performers for the round.

Defender Blayne Wilson, who played two AFL matches before going back to the Royals, ruckman-forward Scott Lycett, and half-back Cale Morton all played key roles in the demolition of the Fremantle-aligned Peel Thunder.

Lycett had 24 possessions, six marks and three goals in a further indication of his growing maturity, while Morton had 17 touches, three marks and a goal and Wilson had 23 touches and three marks.

All started the season a little quietly, but have progressed through the course of the year and it would come as no surprise should they earn further AFL opportunities before the end of the season.

Former Melbourne utility player Jamie Bennell, experienced forward Ashton Hams and developing defender Adam Carter were also under notice.

Bennell, who made his name at the Demons as a forward, is excelling in defence for Swan Districts after recovering from knee surgery, while Hams played midfield and spent a short time forward in the last quarter when he kicked two goals for South Fremantle.

Carter, drafted last November, had a delayed start to the season because of an ankle injury and is developing nicely. He spent considerable time opposed to experienced Perth forward Kyle Riemers and negated his impact.

Jacob Brennan played back and through the midfield and was a handy contributor for East Fremantle against Claremont in Kununurra , while Murray Newman had 13 possessions and kicked a goal for Swans.

Fraser McInnes and Jeremy McGovern are two young players continuing to develop in the WAFL and are on track. McInnes had 13 disposals and eight marks in a lively display for Perth while McGovern had nine touches and two marks playing deep forward for Claremont.
