Quality performers in the WAFL at the weekend will again give the match committee something to ponder as it searches for the right combination to tackle Gold Coast at Patersons Stadium on Saturday.

Only four players were engaged, but all four made solid contributions.

East Fremantle pair Brad Sheppard and Brad Dick were prominent when the Sharks overwhelmed arch rivals South Fremantle at Fremantle Oval.

Sheppard played through the midfield throughout and relished the opportunity as he accumulated 30 possessions, had eight marks and sent the ball inside the attacking 50 eight times.

Dick was lively deep in attack and finished with two goals, as well as three tackles which were important in his defensive work.

Veteran Adam Selwood, playing in defence and through the midfield, was among East Perth’s best where his on-field leadership was almost as important as his possession count.

He had 26 disposals in a Royals team that lost to West Perth after failing to kick a goal in the second half.

Defender Jamie Bennell, elevated off the rookie list last week, had 14 possessions in the back half for Swan Districts in their important win over Peel and he produced a solid and consistent performance.
