Hello to all the Eagles fans out there!

I’m back and flying high after a big win against the Bombers!

What a great effort by the boys, the Dons have been struggling a bit, but the boys put them away like I knew they could. Special mention to Lecca who kicked five snags after breaking two of his ribs, and also Pridda, who slotted back into the team like he never left, and ran around in his usual ball-magnet fashion.

We’re playing great footy, at the right time of the year, and although it’ll be tough to make the finals, all the boys can do is keep winning games. They’re in good form, and are taking on the might of the Geelong Cats this Saturday night!

We lose Lecca who needs to give his ribs a rest, and also Blayne Wilson, but regain Adam Carter and our midfield speedster Luke Shuey. Luke has been training the house down during the last week or so, and is showing no signs of the hamstring injury that has bothered him this year.

The Cats lose their number one big man Tom Hawkins, which means they’ve lost some firepower up forward. Woosha said during the week that he wished Hawkins was playing fully fit, so we can measure ourselves against the best, fair enough, but him not being out there certainly helps our chances!

It might be a wet game, so it’ll be a tough, hard slog. Luckily we’ve got a little tough nut called Scott Selwood who thrives in those conditions, along with Matt Priddis I might add. But the Cats see our Selwood, and raise their Selwood…Joel that is. Joel is arguably the toughest midfielder in the business, and loves hard, contested footy. Maybe Scooter can man up on his brother for a battle-royale between the Selwood’s.

Speaking of the Selwood’s, can I send my congratulations to Adam Selwood who announced his retirement yesterday. He was been a great servant of the club for many years, and I’ll never forget him jumping up and down just after the siren sounded in the 2006 premiership victory.

Joining him in retirement is another one of my favourites, Mark Nicoski. Nico has endured more injuries than anyone deserves to cop, but has still eeked out over 100 games, including the 205 grand final loss. My favourite memory of Nico is probably his awesome goal to start to 2005 grand final, along with his awesome 2011 season.

So the boys need to channel their inner 1992 & 1994, to take care of the Cats tomorrow night. I think they can do it, they’re playing good footy, and with our loyal supporters behind them, they’ve got what it takes to get the job done.

Go Eagles!

Love Rick.
