Tough utility player Pat McGinnity will accept a one-week suspension on a rough conduct charge as a result of an incident against Fremantle last week, but will travel with the squad to play Sydney.
McGinnity will serve his suspension in the season proper, but will be allowed to play in pre-season matches, including Thursday’s clash with Sydney at Blacktown International Sports Park.
McGinnity will have an important role to play against the Swans, given the match committee has decided to take a youthful team to tackle one of the club’s major rivals.

Several players who have not yet played senior football have been selected to face Sydney, including tall utility player Jeremy McGovern, strongly-built midfielder Brant Colledge, key forward Fraser McInnes and 2013 draftees Dom Sheed, Dylan Main and Will Maginness.
In addition, Jamie Bennell, who was secured from Melbourne at the end of the 2012 season after suffering a serious knee injury, and Elliot Yeo (Brisbane) and Xavier Ellis (Hawthorn) have also been selected.
Andrew Gaff and Will Schofield, who did not play against Fremantle, come into the line-up as well.
Senior players like captain Darren Glass, John Worsfold medallist Matt Priddis, ruckman Dean Cox, key defender Eric Mackenzie and key forward Josh Kennedy will remain at home.
