The West Coast Eagles has today elevated ruckman Callum Sinclair off the rookie list, putting him firmly in the frame for selection in Sunday’s season opener against the Western Bulldogs at Patersons Stadium.

In a move that conjures thoughts of déjà vu, with the athletic 200cm rookie being promoted to the senior list ahead of the round one match 12 months ago, Sinclair has again made his way to the list proper with the first game looming.

He has been promoted to replace young key defender Tom Barrass, who is recovering from hip surgery.

Last year, Sinclair was called upon to fill the void when Nic Naitanui was sidelined at the start of the year and played the first five games before a knee injury intervened.

The 24-year-old, adept both forward and in the ruck, has been rewarded for an outstanding pre-season and NAB Challenge series, particularly against Sydney in Blacktown when he was close to best afield.

That came after an eye-catching performance against Fremantle at Joondalup and should he get his chance, he will be ultra-keen to continue the rich vein of form to build on his AFL career tally and to play his role in a positive start to the season for the Eagles.
