West Coast legends are encouraging supporters to bring cans of food to the round three clash with St Kilda to be donated to WA’s homeless through the charity initiative ‘Cans For A Cause’.

In return for their generosity, fans will be given a good hard dose of nostalgia, with over twenty Eagles greats including Drew Banfield, Michael Braun, Michael Brennan, Rowan Jones, Brett Jones, David Hart and Craig Turley at the ground on match day accepting donations.

And for any West Coast supporters who grew up in the ‘90s and ‘00s and remember these players back in their glory days, you can rest assured, the boys will happily step back in to the limelight for fan autographs and photos on Saturday.

The Cans For A Cause charity campaign will be championed  by West Coast dual premiership player Michael Brennan, who takes over the reins after Don Pyke assumed the role of Stoppage and Structures Coach at the club at the end of 2013.

Brennan and his fellow teammates stationed at gates 8, 10, 19 and 26 at this Sunday’s match accepting canned good donations, which will go to Foodbank WA, the state’s largest hunger relief organisation.

Last year, Eagles fans showed their generosity by donating a total of 6,530 kilos of canned food on Sunday, the equivalent of 8,700 meals, which was Foodbank’s biggest one-day food collection in its history, and was then donated to more than 1,200 charities and 420 schools, and also distributed to adults and children in need.

The west Coast Eagles Football Club thanks everyone in advance for their support and looks forward to another successful day on Saturday, April 5.
