The West Coast Eagles opened their eastern states account with a 93-point demolition at the MCG on Sunday, running out winners 18.15 (123) to 4.6 (30) thrashing - their second straight win to start the year.

Luke Shuey and Nic Naitanui starred in the midfield and Josh Kennedy kicked four goals in his 100th game for the Eagles.

It was a strong performance from the visitors, a side who have had a poor record at the MCG over the last few seasons.

There were plenty of highlights for the Eagles, here are some of the big moments from the big win.

VIDEO: Shuey burns away to kick the first of the day

Luke Shuey came into the game under an injury cloud of sorts, following his substitution from last week’s game against the Bulldogs.

Given the perfect chance to test out all the muscles in his speedy legs, Shuey jumped all over the opportunity just minutes into the encounter at the MCG.

After the Dees turned it over at their half forward line, the Eagles spread on the counter attack was unrelenting, with Jack Darling busting away and carrying the ball inside 50, with Shuey pushing hard from half-back to the full forward line to receive the hand pass and kick the easiest of goals.

Shuey would go onto be best afield, gathering 30 disposals and booting two goals.

VIDEO: Hurn subbed out

After a strong return to AFL footy against the Bulldogs, Shannon Hurn was looking forward to leaving his injury ravaged 2013 behind him.

But early on against the Dees, Daniel Cross fell across his right lethal right leg, forcing him from the field. After a big lead was building in the second term, Eagles staff decided the best thing was to substitute Hurn out of the game.

The injury was described as "minor" and coach Adam Simpson says it looks like “two to three weeks”.

VIDEO: LeCras continues the demolition

After a best-afield display against the Bulldogs last week, Mark Lecras was being watch very closely by the Demons defenders yesterday. As the Eagles looked to break the Demons spirit early in the second term, LeCras stepped up to the plate.

Fresh substitute Brad Sheppard launched his pass into the forward 50, with LeCras swooping on the loose ball and snapping truly over his left shoulder to take the lead to 52-points.

VIDEO: Kennedy finishes end-to-end brilliance

The Eagles have been concentrating on their ball movement under new coach Adam Simpson, so you can bet this highlight makes the review tape today.

Elliot Yeo intercepts a Demons forward thrust, and quickly shoots the ball forward to a running Jack Darling.

Darling draws his man, flicks a hand pass through to Jamie Cripps who props, then send the ball inside 50 to an open Josh Kennedy who balances and then finishes off the terrific team goal.

Kennedy was playing his 100th game in Eagles colours, and finished the day with four goals.
