The West Coast Eagles will be without captain Darren Glass for the important clash with Carlton at Etihad Stadium on Saturday after he accepted a one-week suspension imposed by the match review panel.

Glass was charged with rough conduct for a fourth quarter incident when, in the act of spoiling, he collided with Port Adelaide forward Chad Wingard.

The absence of Glass will mean that for the second road trip in succession he has stayed home, after missing the clash with Geelong a fortnight ago with a hip injury.

With Glass absent, the match committee will need to re-structure and the good news is that a handful of defenders have been in good WAFL form.

While Will Schofield sat out the action last weekend, being held over as the emergency, he sits near the front of the queue along with Sam Butler, Blayne Wilson and Jeremy McGovern, who has not yet tasted senior football.

All were in eye-catching touch for East Perth on Good Friday.
