After weighing up all of the options, midfielder Scott Selwood will later today undergo ankle surgery.

The club’s medical staff, after assessing all available treatment avenues and discussing it with all relevant parties, decided that surgery was the best option.

That means Selwood will face a recuperation period of between 10 and 12 weeks.

When he is able, he will immediately move into the recovery phase, aiming to play football again at the back end of the season.

In the meantime, the man who shares the vice-captaincy with Josh Kennedy will continue to support his teammates in the hope they can push through to play in September.
