Tough on-baller Pat McGinnity continued his outstanding WAFL season with another high calibre performance, lifting East Perth to a 16-point victory over Claremont on Saturday.

Like most of his teammates, McGinnity was at his best in the first half when the Royals dominated, but coach Brian Dawson would have been disappointed with the second half performance, with the Royals kicking just two goals after the break.

McGinnity was the best of the West Coast-listed players with 30 possessions, five marks and seven tackles, although Blayne Wilson was also efficient and prominent with 27 touches and five marks.

Through the midfield, Will Maginness (19 disposals), Dom Sheed (20 possessions), Brant Colledge (14 touches) and Simon Tunbridge (12 disposals) had an impact, with Colledge clamping on six tackles to round out his game.

Callum Sinclair was another player who maintained a rich vein of form, the ruckman-forward collecting 21 possessions and eight marks, finishing off his game with two goals. He was also effective in the ruck with 22 hit outs.

Ashley Smith and Josh Hill were lively up forward, each of them kicking two goals.

In defence, Adam Carter again performed his task well, with 16 touches, but also playing well in his role for the team.

Again, there were four younger players engaged in the reserves match which saw East Perth roar home to win by 21 points – the victory coming on the back of a five-goals-to-none last quarter.

Malcolm Karpany continued his push towards a spot in the senior team with 20 touches and two goals in a slick performance, while Dylan Main also picked up 22 possessions and laid five tackles.

Developing defenders Tom Barrass and Rowen Powell also performed their roles with aplomb, taking several timely marks and offering strong rebound out of the back half.
