HBF Health Fit Fan Linda Kember is making big changes. Overworked, overtired and overstressed, Linda took the courageous decision last year to quit her job and find some more balance in her life.

“As a society, we place so much emphasis on planning for our retirement – but it’s all financial. Of course that’s important, but without planning for it physically, who’s to say if we’ll even be around when we hit retirement age? I didn’t want my financial security to come at the cost of my health and wellbeing.”

She decided to enter the HBF Health Fit Fan competition, to give her support and guidance through the process. Linda’s started doing yoga and cardio for her fitness, things she used to enjoy before work made making time for them impossible. She’s also changed her eating habits. Stress was causing her to snack more, and she was also keeping up with her husband’s hearty (although delicious!) portion sizes, so she’s made some changes to ensure a healthy, balanced diet.

“I tend to be a bit of an overachiever, so when I haven’t done something I wanted to I can be my own worst critic,” admits Linda.

"But I’ve been keeping myself in check and recognising when I’ve done something well. Yes, I’ve got a bigger ‘grand plan’ – but I’m proud of what I’ve already achieved, and that’ll keep me going until I’m truly happy with my health and wellbeing.”
