Experienced defender Sam Butler, who has wound back the clock with his form in the last month, is rated a 50-50 chance of playing against Melbourne on Saturday evening despite being scheduled for minor eye surgery tomorrow.

Butler, who was injured on Saturday and subsequently subbed out because of a laceration to the right eye, will have an operation tomorrow and depending on how it heals, could be available against the Demons.

He will ultra-keen to play, given that close mate Dean Cox will play his last home game at Patersons Stadium.

Clever forward Mark LeCras, who has missed the last two games with a low-grade calf strain, is also keen to resume as the West Coast Eagles strive to remain in the finals race.

Midfielders Scott Selwood and Elliot Yeo, as well as utility player Xavier Ellis, are also maintaining their drive to return and are likely to be available should the club win its remaining two games and force a last-gasp entry into the final eight.
