With the NAB AFL Draft just three days away, the AFL's national talent manager Kevin 'Shifter' Sheehan has named his top-40 draft prospects with the 2014 All Australian squad as a point of comparison.

Vic Metro dominates the team with just under half the squad coming from the representative side.

"This year, with AFL Academies Development Manager Mick Ablett, I have taken a slightly different angle in selecting a balanced list of 40 draft prospects, in positional groupings, based on the positional groupings of the 2014 All Australian squad," Sheehan said.

"We have broken up 40 draft hopefuls into the same positional groupings so you can compare them with the stars.

"Picking just 40 potential draftees was no easy exercise – scores of other players were considered, each with their own individual qualities.

"Many others will be drafted onto primary lists or as rookies, but this is our opinion."

The 2014 NAB AFL Draft takes place on Thursday at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
