Hey everyone! Long time, no blog!

Well, I can’t believe it. We’re finally here. Round one, ready to ROCK and roll (get it!?). If you ask my opinion, the pre-season has just been far too long – forget all that cricket, although good on the Aussies for their World Cup victory hey?

(Not Auzzie the bird in case you were wondering. Speaking of, Auzzie has been training pretty hard in the off-season. She’s got some new flight plans all set to go for next week’s first home match at Domain Stadium. But anyway, I digress.)

So, first up, the boys will face the Doggies over at Etihad Stadium. Assistant coach Brady Rawlings took me aside yesterday and gave me the heads-up that a couple of our new recruits might debut! It’s always good to see the young guns get a chance. Me, I’m still waiting …

Anyway, we have a good record against the Dogs – we’ve won 30 games out of the 46 times we’ve played them. And last time we met we won by 65 points (that’s pretty good). Let’s hope we can replicate that on Saturday night!

As you can tell my excitement levels are pretty much turned up to 11 at the moment. Not only is footy back, it’s also Easter this weekend! Simmo has told me to take it easy on the choccies (just in case I get the call up, you know), but I reckon I can sneak a few in. I hope the Easter Bunny spoils you too!

The next couple of weeks are going to be massive. We’ve got our first match at home facing Carlton next Friday night. I’d better get my dance moves ready! I’ve been practicing some new flips during the pre-season, and I’ve enlisted the help of a few mates to really take my skills (or should it be skillz) to the next level. I hope you’ll be there to check it out.

Then, it’s our first Rick’s Rookies event of the year on Monday April 13 – the Rookie Coaching Clinic at Aquinas College. That’s probably my favourite Rookie event, because we have heaps of our best junior fans testing their skills alongside the players. If you haven’t RSVP’d yet make sure you call the club quickly on 9388 4566, spots are almost gone.

Phew, I’m exhausted from all the anticipation! I’d better get some rest before Saturday night.

Go Eagles!

Love, Rick.
