Xavier Ellis will make a return to senior football this weekend after a long layoff with calf and hamstring injuries.

Ellis, who played half a game in the reserves at East Perth a fortnight ago, has trained on strongly during the WAFL club’s bye at the weekend and is ready for a return to league football.

Mark Hutchings, who was a late withdrawal from the clash with St Kilda due to hamstring awareness, will look to prove his fitness later in the week and try to earn a call-up to face the Cats on Sunday.

Powerful forward Jack Darling, who has not yet played this season, is training with enthusiasm and is creeping closer to a return, which will be within the next two weeks if things progress as they should.

Dom Sheed and Matt Rosa continue their steady rehabilitation, with Sheed simply allowing his injured hand to repair, while Rosa is building his running program up by the day as he looks to return from a recurrence of a hamstring injury.

Young utility Dylan Main will miss this week due to an ongoing back complaint, but with careful management should be available after a week's rest.

2014 draftees Tom Lamb and Damien Cavka are building towards their respective returns, with Lamb now beginning a running program while Cavka has been training with the main group for a number of weeks as he builds up his fitness levels.
