West Coast Eagles Rookie of the Year Dom Sheed says he’s thrilled to join an illustrious group of players who sit on the Eagles honour roll.

Names like Darren Glass, Matt Priddis and Nic Naitanui have all won the Eagles’ Rookie of the Year award, and Sheed said it’s an honour to join them as a winner of the award.

“It’s an honour,” Sheed said.

“Those are guys I really look up to, so to join them as a winner of this award is pretty special.

"At the end of the day it is a team sport, so what everyone is really hungry for is team success, so hopefully we can all taste that soon as we've now felt the pain on defeat.

"We all have a burning desire to get better so we're already looking forward to next year."

Sheed was short and sharp when on stage but thanked said there were a lot of people who helped him get to where he is today.

“First of all I’d like to thank my parents, family and all my mates who have supported me this year, I can’t thank you enough,” Sheed said last night.

“To the club, everyone from Nizzy (Trevor Nisbett) down, you’ve done a great job this year.

“Thanks to the coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to play and especially my teammates for kicking me the footy.

“Hopefully we can go one further next year and win one more game, but I’m looking forward to 2016.”
