Inspirational AFL figure Neale Daniher might have returned to Melbourne earlier this year, but he remains firmly in the hearts of the West Coast Eagles family.

Daniher, diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease a couple of years ago, has been a marvel as he has directed his energy towards raising awareness – and badly needed funds – to aid the quest to find a cure.

After raising more than Daniher’s $2.2 million with the Big Freezt at the ‘G, Daniher has now turned his efforts to Daniher’s Drive for MND, to continue his quest to conquer what he labels as “the beast".

Daniher’s Drive for MND will kick off tomorrow, starting at East Fremantle Oval, heading to Northam and another mystery destination, before culminating at Steel Blue Oval on Sunday afternoon.

The West Coast Eagles will have a car in the event; thanks to the support of long-time partner Toyota, continuing to push the cause to support sufferers in this State.

Before the second preliminary final at Domain Stadium between West Coast and North Melbourne, WA football fans threw their support behind the cause, contributing over $10,000 to the fight against MND.

Those funds will be used to support Western Australians who have been afflicted with the disease, providing essential on-going medical care.

After being diagnosed with MND in August 2013, Daniher has put great energy and drive into awareness and raising funds in the bid to help find a cure for the insidious disease.

While Daniher unfortunately can’t attend the WA Drive, he will lead the charge in a similar event in Victoria. The WA community, which has been so supportive of fundraising efforts, has continued to get behind the cause because those who have been diagnosed required on-going care and support.
