Last Friday over 300 West Coast Eagles Rookie members were invited to celebrate Rick the Rock’s birthday at Bounce in Cannington.

After singing the guest of honour Happy Birthday, the rookies were give free reign on the trampolines to show their parents, watching from the viewing platform upstairs, their best flips, tricks and dodgeball skills.

Rick the Rock showed off a bit of course, with a few impressive backflips, while those not so keen on the competitive nature of dodgeball had a go at bouncing slam dunks in the basketball ring.

Puffed out from all that jumping around, Rookies could take a break to have their faces painted or try some giant Jenga on the main floor.

Sneaky Rick also hid a few bean bags around the venue for a treasure hunt, with the winner taking home a 2015 team signed Guernsey.

The entire 2016 squad pushed forward their afternoon weights session so that they could come along for the end of the celebrations and meet some of their youngest fans.

Once everyone had a chance to meet all their favourite players and get their signatures, the boys took over umpiring the dodgeball with some taking it upon themselves to make up team numbers and join in on the game.

Determined to figure out what makes the club’s Rookie members tick, Mark Hutchings took over the role of club reporter, and despite his best attempts, didn’t manage to sway any of the Rookies’ answers to ‘who is your favourite player?’ in his direction.

Eventually it was time for the players to head back to Domain Stadium, but not before Rick made sure every member received a special party bag to say thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate his birthday.
