East Perth recorded its first win of the 2016 WAFL season with an impressive 30-point rout of Peel Thunder on Saturday.

The Royals went tit-for-tat with the Thunder in the opening quarter, both teams kicking 3.2, and they were unable to shake the home side in the second quarter, leading by just three points at the main break.

East Perth gained the ascendency in the contest with a four-goals-to-two third term and carried their momentum into the final period, booting six goals to the Thunder’s four to run out 15.12 (104) to 11.8 (74) victors.

Corey Adamson was the blue-and-black’s star on Saturday.

The 24-year-old West Coast rookie amassed 24 disposals, kicked three goals and landed two tackles in his best performance of the season.

Patrick McGinnity has shown improvement in every game this season and delivered the goods against Peel, notching up 25 touches and two goals at Rushton Park.

McGinnity was assisted in the middle by the ever-consummate Kane Lucas (29 disposals, three tackles) and up forward by 2015 Eagles draftee Matthew Allen (three goals, 11 disposals) who appears to have settled into his role as a primary target for the Royals’ senior side.

West Coast's young brigade also faired well against Peel; defender Tom Cole – who has been listed as an emergency for the past two Eagles games – earned 19 touches, Paddy Brophy and Malcolm Karpany both amassed 18 disposals, utility Fraser McInnes got hold of the ball 17 times and backman Tom Barrass was solid in defence, winning the ball 10 times.

Ruckman Jonathan Giles won 15 hit-outs against Fremantle-regular Jonathon Griffin and Jamie Bennell earned himself nine disposals for the match.

The Royals return to Medibank Stadium on Saturday to do battle with arch rivals West Perth at 2.15pm.
