Four West Coast Eagles staffers will embark on the drive of a lifetime to support the more than 150 West Australians living with motor neurone disease.

Eagles chief financial officer Amanda Cox, human resources manager Melissa Burrows, finance - shared services and compliance manager Melissa Donaghey and accounts officer Katie Winsor will participate in the 2016 MND Drive South West Adventure, an annual fundraising and awareness event benefitting the Motor Neurone Disease Association of WA.

Up to 30 vehicles are expected to participate in the three-day driving adventure, which has raised more than $500,000 for MNDAWA the past three years.

The West Coast Eagles entered a team in the 2015 MND Drive Perth Roundtrip and Cox said the team couldn’t wait to sign up for this year’s instalment of the event.

“The 2015 MND Drive was a truly wonderful experience,” Cox said.

“We explored beautiful parts of WA which were off the beaten track and shared the unique experience with so many amazing people.

“There were people who were personally battling with the disease, family and friends supporting them and those honouring the memory of someone who lost their fight with MND.

“Everyone there was passionate about finding a cure.”

While the Eagles’ team enjoyed the experience, Cox said it was especially fulfilling because they knew the journey was raising much needed funds for MNDAWA.

“We have lost too many people to this cruel disease and there are still so many fighting it,” she said.

“We continue to be inspired by those fighting MND every day.”

More than 2000 Australians are affected by MND and at least two people die from the disease each day.

People living with MND have an average life expectancy of 27 months from the date of diagnosis.
