West Coast Eagles midfielder and Cancer Council WA ambassador Luke Shuey recently paid a visit to some people doing it tougher than most this festive season.

The 2016 John Worsfold medallist stopped by Cancer Council WA’s Crawford Lodge to lift the spirits of several fans staying at the facility.

Crawford Lodge offers comfortable, motel-style accommodation to people from regional WA who required cancer treatment in Perth.

The lodge offers a mix of single, double and family rooms for short and long-stay guests.

Cancer Council WA corporate relations manager Hannah Pearce said the facility was currently undergoing renovations in a bid to increase its capacity in 2017.

Shuey enjoyed a morning tea with the guests before posing for photos and signing autographs.

He said meeting some of the lodge’s guests was a highlight of the year.

“To see the smile on their faces when you walk in the door is pretty humbling,” he said.

“They all have such a positive outlook and fortunately a lot of the people I met today will get to go home and be with their families this Christmas.”
