Cambodia’s Tabitha Foundation is approximately $30,000 better off following the West Coast Eagles 2017 Charity Golf Day on Monday.

Eighteen four balls flocked to Lake Karrinyup Country Club – host of the recent PGA Tour of Australasia and European Tour’s World Super 6 tournament – to contest the Ambrose format event.

A team of consummate golfers representing gold event partner Hotckin Henly Lawyers took out the title on a countback ahead of a foursome from Deloitte. Commonwealth Bank's squad placed third.

Golfers and guests were treated to a fine acoustic set by West Coast Eagles chaplain Paul Morrison following the round.

The talented singer/songwriter and 98five radio presenter performed four tracks inspired by the club’s 2015 visit to Cambodia. Proceeds from his album sales to date have helped the Eagles and Tabitha Foundation construct two schools in poverty-stricken areas of the war-torn nation.

Auctioneer extraordinaire Tiny Holly welcomed guests into the clubhouse for the evening’s main events: a gourmet three-course meal, auction and Q&A session with Tabitha Foundation chairman Mike Gurry, West Coast stars Luke Shuey and Sam Butler and Morrison.

West Coast players Jack Darling and Fraser McInnes, back line and team defence coach Daniel Pratt, head of development Gavin Bell and business strategy and growth general manager Deane Pieters also stopped by to entertain guests just as the auction started to heat up.

An inner sanctum Eagles’ game-day experience, Lovell’s Jewelry white diamond peal earrings and two nights at the historic ‘Langton’ homestead near Mount Barker were among 20 exclusive goods and experiences that went under the hammer, but it was a private lunch with West Coast chief executive Trevor Nisbett at Matilda Bay restaurant that fetched the highest bid.

Net proceeds from the event will contribute to the construction of 20 houses for underprivileged families by Eagles players during their post-season trip to Cambodia in November.
