West Coast ruckman Scott Lycett will play his first game of football in more than three months on Monday.

Eagles senior coach Adam Simpson confirmed today that Lycett would take part in East Perth’s WA Day derby ficture against West Perth at Leederville Oval.

Lycett has spent the majority of this year in the club’s rehabilitation group after undergoing a posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction following West Coast’s 2016 finals' exit and a shoulder operation following a dislocation incurred during his comeback match with the Royals at East Fremantle Oval in March.

Simpson said fans could expect to see Lycett do some ruck work for East Perth, albeit on limited minutes.

“He’s on managed minutes, but he’ll get some ruck time,” Simpson said.

“We won’t rush him (back into the AFL). He’s obviously coming off his knee in the pre-season and then his shoulder, so he’s missed a lot of footy.

“Building his strength up in the gym and on the track ... he’s coming from a long way back. This is the first step, but then we’ve got a bye. Unfortunately, he can’t get a couple of games in a row. We’ll get this game out the way and see how we go after the break.”

Simpson also revealed that livewire small forward Willie Rioli would play his first senior WAFL game on Monday.

The Tiwi Islands product kicked four goals in his East Perth reserves debut a fortnight ago against South Fremantle on limited minutes.
