Duggan post-match v Cats Midfielder Liam Duggan speaks with Eagle Eye TV following his side's Thursday night victory over Geelong
AFL 2017 Round 06 - West Coast v Fremantle

Liam Duggan collected 18 disposals, five tackles and a goal against Geelong

Liam Duggan says an “angry mindset” was the key to the Eagles’ win over Geelong at Domain Stadium last night.

The budding West Coast midfield talent said the group was hell bent on making a statement following a string of poor performances against Essendon, Greater Western Sydney and Gold Coast.

“We went in with a bit of angry mindset today,” Duggan told Eagle Eye TV.

“We just wanted to pressure the game, keep coming up with the footy and the boys did that really well and the result showed.”

As rapt Duggan was with their 13-point triumph over the Cats, he knows the squad has to replicate its Thursday night heroics for the rest of the season if they want to challenge for a top four spot.

“We’ve copped our criticism over the last few weeks and I think the boys are really happy to get that win and get it off the chest,” Duggan said.

“It’s only one good performance. We need to bank that and learn from it and deliver next week.

“Recovery is just as important as any other week, whether it’s nine days or six days. We’ll get the weekend off to recover and Monday will be a solid session into Tuesday and we’ll get ready for (Melbourne).”
