West Coast invited some of its most loyal members to a special Beneath our Wings Gold Member Recognition Sundowner last Thursday to honour those who have stuck by the club for 30 years.

The event was hosted by West Coast Eagles partnerships manager Tyson Beattie, who welcomed more 60 fans who joined the club in 1988 into Domain Stadium’s John Worsfold Room for the event.

After discussing some milestone moments from season 1988, Beattie asked West Coast chief executive Trevor Nisbett to join him on stage to address the 30-year members.

Trevor discussed the many exciting changes coming up for the club, including the move to the new Perth Stadium and the impending construction of the Eagles’ new training and administration facilities at Lathlain Park.

After taking some questions from the crowd, Nisbett mingled and chatted with members during a short break.

Next up on stage were West Coast players Jonathan Giles and Lewis Jetta, who had the crowd in stitches with their anecdotes about life around the club.

Giles discussed the difficulty of pushing for a place in the side after showing some strong form for East Perth, while Jetta spoke about the importance of the week’s NAIDOC celebrations.

There was plenty of time for photos with the two players and the 1992 Premiership Cup before Beattie introduced the final guest of the evening, Auzzie the Eagle.

Auzzie and WA Birds of Prey Centre handler Yvonne shared her thoughts on the challenges Auzzie might face adapting her flight pattern to the new Perth Stadium.

As formalities neared their conclusion, Beattie announced the door prize winner, who was lucky enough to take home a 2017 team-signed guernsey.

We thank all of our 30-year members for attending the function.
