The West Coast Eagles, in partnership with the Seniors Recreation Council of WA, welcomed members aged 65 years and over into the club’s inner-sanctum for its annual Grandparents’ Day last Wednesday.

The SRC’s aim is to keep ageing Australians healthy and active through a range of activities and their partnership with the club provides some of our more senior members with opportunities to socialise while trying different activities and gaining new skills.

The sell-out event gave West Coast members the chance to bring their grandchildren to the club to have a go at a number of different activities together, including seated hockey, exergaming, set shot practice and lots more.

The day kicked off in the club’s warm-up room with activities galore, plus a photo booth for family pictures, free face painting and a display of West Coast Eagles memorabilia.

Members were soon joined by a very special guest Rick the Rock, who was more than happy to take part in the activities and pose for photos.

After everyone tried their hand at the activities on hand, the group split into two, with the first group heading into the Players’ Lounge for morning tea, while the second had a tour of the club’s inner sanctum.

The tour moved throughout the club’s lecture theatre, cardio room and weights room before ending on Domain Stadium’s playing surface.

The event wrapped up back in the warm-up room and staff drew the coveted door prizes, which included a 2017 team-signed guernsey, signed Sherrin and captain/coach-signed cap.

There are still a few positions available for the next Eagles in Their Prime event, the Tech Savvy Seniors course running throughout August.
