Seven West Coast Eagles paid a special visit to some kids doing it tough at Princess Margaret Hospital last week.

Sam Butler, Drew Petrie, Brad Sheppard, Mark Hutchings, Liam Duggan, Jackson Nelson and Tom Gorter stopped by the hospital’s Megazone to sign autographs, star in photos and distribute merchandise to some of the club’s youngest and bravest fans.

After playing games with children in the Megazone, the group visited the hospital’s oncology ward.

Fourth-year Eagle and first-time PMH visitor Liam Duggan said it was inspiring to witness the fight and resolve of the children.

“We’ve had our ups and downs this year on the footy field, but it doesn’t even compare to what these kids are going through,” he said.

“There were so many smiles today, from the kids and the boys. It was a great experience.”

West Coast midfielder Mark Hutchings said he would never pass up an opportunity to visit PMH.

The 25-year-old is always among the first players to put his hand up for a hospital visit.

“I just get a kick out of seeing the kids’ smiles and it’s rewarding to think that a brief appearance might, if only for a moment, take their minds off their fight or condition,” Hutchings said.
