Luke Shuey was one of only two players to receive maximum votes in the opening week of the finals, giving him a head start in the race for the Gary Ayres Award for the best finals player in the eyes of the coaches.

Shuey scored a perfect 10 votes for his 32-disposal, 11-tackle and two-goal effort against Port Adelaide on Saturday night.

The only other player to earn 10 votes was Sydney skipper Josh Kennedy.

Jeremy McGovern was awarded eight votes from Adam Simpson and Ken Hinkley for his superb 25-possession, 15-mark display against the Power and veteran Matt Priddis secured three votes for a terrific outing that featured 33 disposals, 10 tackles, five marks and a crucial fourth-quarter goal.
