Nic Naitanui strides out at training this week

ADAM Simpson is still refusing to rule star West Coast ruckman Nic Naitanui in or out of Saturday's do-or-die semi-final against Greater Western Sydney.

Following a week of 'will he or won't he?' speculation, Simpson wasn't prepared to shed any light on Naitanui's chances of a fairytale comeback after more than a year on the sidelines recovering from a knee reconstruction.

"I can't talk selection as you know, it's just too tight of a season, too tight a comp to talk about selection until we actually do it," Simpson said.

West Coast is taking a large squad of 26 players to Sydney for the clash, and Simpson was coy when asked if Naitanui would be on the plane.

"He'll fly at some stage, whether he flies today or not will be up for debate," he said.

"I can't tell you.

"We'll take a big squad, just for experience and the fact it's two travel weeks in a row."

Earlier this week, Simpson declared Naitanui needed to prove he could get through at least 70 minutes game time before being considered for his first game since round 22 last year.

"He's training really well, and while we keep advancing he's getting closer and closer," Simpson said.

More to come.
