Liam Ryan will wear the club's coveted No.1 guernsey next year

Excitement machine Liam Ryan and entertaining second-year defender Francis Watson will wear two of the club’s most revered guernseys in 2018 following today’s confirmation of next year’s jumper numbers.

Ryan, who was recruited to the Eagles with pick No.26 in this year’s draft, will don the No.1 guernsey vacated by retired champion come West Coast midfield coach Sam Mitchell, while Watson has secured guernsey No.26, which was worn by 2006 premiership player Sam Butler for the past 14 years.

West Coast’s first selection in the 2017 National Draft, Jarrod Brander, will wear No.10, Oscar Allen will play with No.12 on his back, Brayden Ainsworth opted to don No.33, Jack Petruccelle has taken over Drew Petrie’s No.21 and Hamish Brayshaw will sport No.22 in season 2018.

New Eagles’ rookies Ryan Burrows (No.32), Tony Olango (No.40) and Callan England (No.46) also received their jumper numbers for the upcoming season.

Trade period acquisition Brendon Ah Chee will continue his career in guernsey No.41, the same number he wore at Port Adelaide for six seasons.

The club has elected to rest Matt Priddis’ famous No.11 for the 2018 AFL Premiership season.
