The different structure of the team, created by the match committee at the selection table, showed the versatility of the Eagles as they marched to a strong 80-point win.

While much of the focus quite rightly fell on the shoulders of Josh Kennedy, the return of Liam Duggan was also important as it meant Elliot Yeo could be freed to play more on-ball.

Duggan also spent time in the midfield as well as defence, but it meant that Yeo, the reigning John Worsfold medallist, could play more through the engine room.

He relished that opportunity, racking up 33 possessions, 11 marks and five tackles. In addition to that he carried the ball and took the game on, evidenced by the fact the Eagles gained a massive 697 metres with the ball in his hands.

Yeo was strong and purposeful with everything he did and was part of a midfield group that consistently pumped the ball inside scoring range.
