East Perth got back on the winner’s list with a comprehensive 61-point triumph over Swan Districts on Saturday.

The Royals snapped their six-week losing streak in style and climbed back into the WAFL’s top five with a resounding 18.7 (115) to 8.6 (54) victory at Bassendean Oval.

Luke Webster’s men were on early and booted seven goals in the opening quarter, which included two majors from Liam Ryan within a minute.

East Perth took a hit late in the first quarter when Josh Rotham was knocked out during a marking contest and the news got worse early in the second term when livewire utility Jaxon Cahill went down with an ankle injury.

The Swans dug in during the second stanza and limited East Perth to just two goals, but the Royals rediscovered their groove in the penultimate quarter and booted six unanswered goals to secure a 72-point advantage heading into the final term.

The home side won the fourth quarter four-goals-to-three, but it did little to take away from East Perth’s dominant performance.

Dom Sheed (37 disposals, 21 contested possessions, one goal) was a force in the midfield, as was first-year Eagle Hamish Brayshaw (25 disposals, two goals) and Luke Partington (20 disposals, one goal).

Nathan Vardy (65 hitouts, one goal) dominated his ruck contest against Nathan Blakely, while Jackson Nelson (25 disposals, eight marks) was a thorn in the Black Ducks’ side all day.

Jack Petruccelle and Ryan finished the contest with three goals each, Brendon Ah Chee slotted two majors and Jarrod Brander hit the scoreboard too.

Tom Barrass was solid in his return from a back injury, fellow backman Oscar Allen effected six spoils, while Kurt Mutimer (17 disposals) and Matt Allen (20 disposals) were serviceable off half-back and half-forward respectively.
