Hamstring injury ends Sheppard's season

Sheppard goes down early Brad Sheppard pulls his hamstring early

West Coast Eagles defender Brad Sheppard has been ruled out of the remainder of the club’s finals campaign after scans today revealed a significant hamstring injury.

Sheppard, who was playing his 95th consecutive game in Saturday’s qualifying final against Collingwood, strained his left hamstring about 20 minutes into the game when contesting a ball at half-back.

He left the field immediately and played no further part.

Unfortunately, the scans today confirmed the worst – a recovery period of 8-12 weeks.

The club’s medical staff has not yet made a decision about the best path forward in terms of the preferred treatment.

There is some damage to the hamstring tendon, but the club and Sheppard are still assessing the options of rest and recovery or surgery.
