Fremantle's Hayden Ballantyne could miss the upcoming western derby for his head-high bump on Cat Harry Taylor during the fourth quarter of their clash in Geelong on Sunday afternoon.

The AFL's match review panel charged the forward with engaging in rough conduct and have offered him a two-match ban with an early plea.

The panel said in a statement that it had reviewed video evidence as well as a medical report from Geelong in making its ruling.

Hurn: Derby record no concern

"It was the view of the panel the incident should be classified as careless conduct with medium impact to the head," the statement read.

"The offence was classified as a two-match sanction.

"The player has an applicable bad record, which increases the penalty to a three-match sanction.

An early plea can reduce the penalty to a two-match sanction."

The Dockers could also be without ruckman Zac Clarke who injured his knee after falling awkwardly in the final term of the Geelong clash.

Lyon said on Sunday that he was hopeful Clarke's injury was not severe.

"It was his ankle early and then late it was his knee," Lyon said.

"We scan colds nowadays. They'll scan it. It doesn't seem (that bad) on the surface but you've got to let it cool down.

"But we're expecting he's going to be OK.

"We've got Jon Griffin, Jack Hannath and Michael Apeness at Peel playing some pretty good footy who we'd look at (if Clarke is sidelined)."
