West Coast forward Mark LeCras says re-signing with the club for a further four years was an easy decision and he never really considered offers from competing clubs.

Speaking with Perth radio station 6PR, LeCras said that he always remained confident that the deal would get done.

“It was pretty straight forward,” LeCras said.

“Coming off an injury, my main focus for the year was to get back to playing footy.

“I wasn’t in a real rush to sort of do it and I don’t think the club was either.

“We came together when we were both comfortable and knocked it on the head about half way through the year.

“I didn’t dive too deeply into with my manager or other clubs or anything like that.

“I’m just really happy to be a West Coast player.

“I love the footy club and I love all the boys and I’m happy to be there for another four years, it’s really good.”

The 26-year-old small forward has been plagued by injury over the last two seasons, initially suffering a season-ending knee injury at the start of the 2012 pre-season campaign and then fracturing his forearm against Fremantle in the first Carlton Mid Derby earlier this season.

Despite these setbacks, the young goal sneak says he remains confident in his body’s ability to continue to perform at an elite level.

“I am really confident with my knee,” LeCras said.

“I have felt great all year.  I was able to get back to do rehab really early last year and was able to put some work into it.

“I haven’t had any issues with it over the pre-season or during the season so far.

“So touch wood, it’s been good to this date and I can keep getting stronger over the next few years and begin to load the legs up.”

While LeCras was able to return to the field within two weeks of first fracturing his arm against Fremantle, he admits that the injury is still going through the healing process, but doesn’t believe it is affecting his goal kicking.

“It’s a bit hard to tell, but a lot of goal kicking is mental,” LeCras said.

“I just need to keep practising at training and hopefully I will start kicking the ones I should.

“It’s hard to tell percentage wise where it’s at. It has been affecting me a little bit with my training. I haven’t been able to do as much ball work as I’d like.

“I’m just trying to rest it throughout the week. It’s been feeling alright in the last couple of games.

“Hopefully it’s gotten over the hump now and starts to get better for the rest of the year and isn’t an issue.”
