James Williamson can remember watching his first Eagles grand final as a six-year-old, and more than twenty years later his love of the blue and gold hasn’t faded. The same couldn’t be said, though, for his health and fitness habits – over the years, James has found his healthy eating and workout sessions deteriorating.

An injury sustained a few years ago didn’t help – James was left struggling with everyday tasks, like cooking a meal from scratch, let alone being able to work out. Rehabilitation helped James get back to his previous form, but the good habits he’d been forced to break during this time weren't formed again.

This year, though, James is determined everything will change. He will be getting married next year and wants to be looking and feeling his best for his bride on the big day. He and his fiancée have both started working on their fitness, and have already changed their exercise and eating habits for the better.

Rather than making meals on an ad-hoc basis, they have a much more structured approach, planning out healthy meals for the week in advance. They’ll head down to their local butcher and greengrocer to pick up the ingredients and make every meal from scratch, so they know they’re only working with the freshest foods.

James’ main goal from the HBF Health Fit Fans competition is to lose weight, improve his body shape and instil good habits that post-competition become everyday occurrences. Of course, the chance to go to the grand final is also a big motivator – so James hopes that the Eagles will keep up their part of the deal and ensure that should he get to the grand final, the Eagles will be there too!
