The West Coast Eagles got right back to basics last week and hit the field with the club's grassroots football program, Eagles Faction Footy.

Eleven primary schools today enjoyed their Eagles Faction Footy game in the company of West Coast stars themselves, with players dropping by to visit the youngsters.

The entire West Coast squad divided and conquered, splitting up to cover primary schools all over Perth and spend some time with WA’s future football stars.

The players shared some of their footy tips and tricks with the students, answered questions, and then hit the footy field to umpire and take part in the students’ Eagles Faction Footy match.

“Eagles Faction Footy is a great way for kids to get involved in the game, especially if they’re wanting to play footy as they get older,” said ruckman Dean Cox at Scarborough Primary School.

“These kids have been great today, they were pretty excited to see us.

“Some of them have even told me that I could work on a few aspects of my handballing, so I’m learning as well, we all win.”

The club’s principal community partner BHP Billiton has once again been the driving force behind the success of the Eagles Faction Footy program, which not only aims to increase football participation at a grassroots level, but also promote healthy lifestyles through sport.
