Young Chloe Cutts has been an important part of the West Coast Eagles for a number of years, lending her support to the club’s fundraising efforts with the Cancer Council WA since 2008.

As a cancer survivor herself, Chloe has become an inspiration to the players and the entire West Coast community with her determination, generosity and infectious smile.

When vice-captain Beau Waters asked Chloe to come down to the club for a visit yesterday afternoon, she made her long-time friend a special cake and brought her family along.

What she didn’t realise was that Beau had some special news for her. After chowing down on a piece of cake, he presented Chloe with the club’s junior no.1 ticket-holder guernsey and a season pass to the football for the next two years. Chloe will also be the club’s guest of honour at all Rookie Eagles events, including the upcoming coaching clinic.

As the club’s Cancer Council WA ambassador, Beau has developed a special relationship with Chloe and her family, even inviting them to his engagement party in Adelaide in 2009.

Beau says witnessing Chloe’s journey has provided him with important perspective, particularly when dealing with his own setbacks.

“You see a young girl grown and overcome so many different adversities and blossom into a young, vivacious woman already,” Beau said.

“It’s a credit to her and it always puts things into context.”

Our deserving junior no.1 ticket-holder takes the reins from Zack Basilio, who was selected after a state-wide search to identify the lone Eagles supporter amongst a sea of purple at a Fremantle home game.

Everyone at the West Coast Eagles is sending love across the country as Chloe travels to Sydney for an arm operation as part of her ongoing treatment. She’s one brave cookie!

As part of the club's ongoing relationship with the Cancer Council WA which began in 2005, six brave West Coast players have signed up for the 2011 Me No Hair campaign.

Sam Butler, Ashton Hams, Josh Kennedy, Daniel Kerr, Ash Smith and Cancer Council WA player ambassador Beau Waters will all have their locks drastically altered to raise valuable funds for cancer research, education and patient support services.
