Before the 2013 season kicks off, the West Coast Eagles will be making a trip to Northam for the Australia Post AFL Community Camp.

The entire squad and coaching staff will hit the road on February 7, visiting schools and communities for football clinics, presentations, photo opportunities and signing sessions.

West Coast skipper Darren Glass, originally from Northam, is looking forward to heading back to his hometown and says the annual camp is a great way to start the season.

“Having such a big visit with fans at the start of the season really gets you back in to the swing of things, and definitely gets you geared up to start playing again,” the 2012 all-Australian captain said.

“I know I speak for all the boys when I say that there isn't really anything like meeting a bunch of supporters to get you excited for the season ahead.

“Especially in remote areas like Northam. Because WA is obviously so vast, we unfortunately don’t often get a chance to interact with our fans in more regional areas. So when we do, they are that much more excited, which in turn is a pretty exciting experience for us.”

The camp, which runs over two days, will see the squad pay a visit to students at several schools, including York District Senior High School, Northam Senior High School, Beverly District High School, St Joseph’s High School, Dunderdin District High School, Dowerin District High School, Toodyay District High School, West Northam Primary School, Meckering Primary School, Avonvale Primary School and Tammin Primary School.

The team will also be visiting patients at Northam District Hospital, Bethavon Aged Care Facility and Karilla Respite Care.
