Sherilyn Pagkalinawan spent most of her twenties being pretty active – she was a keen runner, taking part in fun runs, and was a regular at high-energy interval training class Body Attack. But then she met her partner Luke, and that changed things: she swapped evening runs for eating out, Body Attack for nights in, and fun runs for big holidays.

With the big three-oh coming up, Sherilyn decided it’s time to change and get herself back to where she was in her mid-twenties. A slimmer, more active version of herself, but this one gets Luke as well: the best of both worlds.

So when die-hard Eagles fan Sherilyn saw the HBF Health Fit Fans competition, she knew it was fate. She’s already made progress: fitting back into a dress she last wore around 18 months ago is a definite highlight for Sherilyn, and she’s also joined a women-only fitness group with whom she does weights and running.

“The group has been a massive motivator for me. Most of the women are a bit older than me, and have kids, and to see them manage to fit in exercise, look after the kids, cook, clean and still make time for themselves really gives me the motivation I need when I feel like I haven’t got time for exercise. I know that I have – I just need to make that decision to go for a walk instead of sitting on the couch, and thinking of them helps me do that.” says Sherilyn.

“Looking back at photos from as recently as 8 months ago makes me so happy – there’s a visible change there, and I feel happier and much more confident. I’m hoping to do a 12km fun run in August, and from there it’s only a few weeks to the end of the season when I find out whether or not I’ve won those Grand Final tickets... I really hope so!”
