Unfortunately for West Coast Eagles fans they never saw the best of brilliant wingman Phil Narkle. After returning from St Kilda as part of the initial West Coast Eagles squad, Narkle was hit by injury and played just nine games in the club’s first season. Those injuries persisted, Narkle was eventually de-listed, but was then picked up again in the 1990 pre-season draft, resulting in him playing another nine senior matches with West Coast.

Football Honours: The only player to win the Medallists Medal (1977) for the fairest and best in the WAFL colts competition and add the League’s major award, the Sandover Medal (1982), playing with Swan District. In 1978, he was judged Swans best first year player and in 1981 was the league team’s fairest and best. A Swans premiership player in 1982, 1983 and again in 1990. In 1987, he was in the VFL team of the year and earned All-Australian honours. Captain of Swan Districts in 1992-93.
