The West Coast Eagles have been supporting Foodbank WA since 2013.

Foodbank WA is one the club’s most worthy charitable partners and the state’s largest food relief organisation. In fact, it provides more than 5.7 million meals a year to over 900 charities and schools across the state.

This year the West Coast Eagles, AGL, Mrs Macs and Foodbank WA have teamed up to establish series of initiatives to take on hunger: AGL’s Metres for Meals, Tackling Hunger Together and Carry a Coin.

AGL’s Metres for Meals campaign will see AGL donate up to 50,000 meals to Foodbank WA this season. For every kilometre that Andrew Gaff runs during home games, AGL will donate 500 meals to Foodbank WA.

Mrs Mac’s, the West Coast Eagles and Foodbank’s Tackling Hunger Together initiative will see Mrs Mac’s generously donate up to 20,000 meals to Foodbank WA at their match day on Round 16. For every tackle made by a West Coast Eagles player, Mrs Mac’s will donate 300 meals. Be sure to keep an eye on the big screens at the end of each quarter, because we’ll be tallying up how many tackles the players are racking up.

This year’s Carry A Coin initiative is an evolution of the original Cans for a Cause campaign, where the OWLs (older, wiser, larger, slower players) helped Foodbank WA volunteers collect canned food items on a specific game day.

Keep an eye out for the Foodbank WA volunteers around Optus Stadium during our round 16 clash with Greater Western Sydney on Sunday, July 8.  West Coast Eagles and Foodbank WA are asking members and fans to Carry a Coin to help raise much-needed funds to supply meals to the hungry in WA. Every dollar will help provide two meals to those in need, so every donation counts!

It is estimated that more than 94,000 Western Australians every month rely on Foodbank WA for a meal. Sadly, more than one third are children.

Together we can help ensure that all Western Australians have access to a meal in times of need, so we are thrilled to be supporting the state’s largest hunger relief charity.
