Dual All-Australian Elliot Yeo says he is progressing well in his bid to return from a calf injury, expecting to be back within the next few weeks.

In his regular segment on 96FM's the bunch, the premiership midfielder says he is confident a return to AFL football is not far away.

"Still a few weeks away, I need to tick of some volume and some loading and get that speed back. I am looking to get back as soon as possible but the strength and conditioning side of things will want to tick a few things as well so hopefully not too far away but hopefully sooner rather than later."

Yeo says the side can't overlook the strength of North Melbourne as the team gets set to take on the Roos at Marvel Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

"I think it is going to be a very good game especially the fact that they got the choccies against us last year and especially at home, we will be going over to try and have a point to prove and they will as well after losing to Hawthorn," Yeo says.

Yeo has had his injury troubles over the past two seasons and while determined to return soon to add to his 177 games, the time on the sidelines has given him perspective to help others in the AFL fraternity struggling from similar injuries.

Yeo recently consoled young Brisbane defender Noah Answerth who returned to play his first match in 18 months after struggling with groin problems for close to two years.

"He got my number through a family friend and we had a good chat, he explained what he went through and it was similar to myself, I know how much it can be draining mentally and physically so to get out there and do what you love, I am sure it is a relief (for him)."
