WAFL: Three changes for Thunder clash

Hamish Brayshaw will make his official season 2019 debut on Saturday

West Coast are set to make at least three changes for Saturday’s clash with Peel Thunder at Optus Stadium.

Midfielders Matthew Allen and Hamish Brayshaw have been named in the starting 18, as has versatile defender Jak Cary.

Allen comes into the team after being the AFL team’s travelling emergency last week, while Brayshaw is also set make his 2019 WAFL debut after missing the club’s season-opening clash with Perth due to a lower body ailment.

The pair will be a welcome addition to the WAFL Eagles’ on ball division.

Allen, a joint winner of East Perth's 2018 FD Book Medal, and Brayshaw were among the Royals’ most noted ball winners last year and will be expected to take it up to the Thunder's experienced midfield brigade.

Cary was the emergency for the season-opener and gets his chance this weekend.

He will line up alongside fellow WAFL Eagles Andrew Fisher and Mitchel Curnow, who were among the team’s best performers against the Demons at Mineral Resources Park last Saturday.

Leadership group member Liam Robilliard is also in the mix for a call up after being named on an extended bench.

AFL emergencies Daniel Venables, Francis Watson, Josh Rotham and Josh Smith are also available for selection should they not get a call up to face Fremantle in the RAC Derby.

The WAFL Eagles will go to war with Peel Thunder at Optus Stadium from 2pm on Saturday.

Gates A and D will open at 1.55pm for fans who want to watch the contest, but you must have an AFL ticket to the RAC Derby to enter the ground.
